Regulations & Standards - Low Location Lighting Systems

Safety at sea is governed by strict international standards. According to SOLAS regulations, all passenger ships carrying more than 36 people must be equipped with a Low Location Lighting (LLL) system to ensure safe evacuation under any emergency condition.

  • IMO Decision A‑752(18) – Guidelines for evaluation, testing, and application of LLL systems on passenger ships

  • SOLAS Agreement 2004 – Requirements for exit routes and escape route markings

  • European Directive 2002/25/EC – Safety rules and requirements for passenger ships

  • ISO 15370 – Standards for Low Location Lighting on passenger ships

  • ISO 16069 – Safety Way Guidance Systems (SWGS)

  • ISO 24409‑2:2014 – Ships and marine technology: design, location, and use of safety signs, notices, and markings

  • ISO 17398:2004 – Safety colors and signs: classification and durability of safety signs
